A relaxing retreat in the heart of the North York Moors National Park, Heather Cottage is a dog friendly, homely property with plenty of charm. Nestled in the quaint village of Glaisdale, a stay here will provide a truly tranquil break. Sleeping up to three guests, Heather Cottage is perfect for romantic getaways and small family staycations.
Accommodation
You’ll have full access to Heather Cottage during your stay which includes a living room, kitchen diner, two bedrooms, a family bathroom and a garden.
The living room has a traditional cottage feel with exposed beams and a sash window. The perfect place to relax after a day of exploring North Yorkshire, there are two comfy sofas and a flat screen TV with Freeview and Sky. Note the log burner fire is electric.
Fully equipped for self-catering stays, the kitchen has modern appliances and cookware so you can prepare meals easily. It has a traditional look with a Belfast sink and shaker style. Also sharing this space is the dining area which includes a dining table and green chairs.
Upstairs on the first floor, you’ll find two bedrooms and the family bathroom. The master bedroom has a comfy double bed and the second room is a single. Modern and clean, the bathroom has a bath, walk in shower, WC and basin.
Outside there is a quaint garden space with grass, flowers and herbs for cooking. A shaded seat is provided where you can enjoy a morning coffee or a glass of bubbly on an evening.

Heather Cottage is located in the quaint village of Glaisdale in the heart of the North York Moors National Park. With beautiful views and rolling hills, this part of the Esk Valley is perfect for walkers, hikers and cyclists. If you’re looking for somewhere to unwind, Glaisdale is perfect. The quiet village has a general store, butchers and the popular Arncliffe Arms where you can enjoy a pint or delicious meal.
Glaisdale is situated approximately 20 minutes west of Whitby. Here you’ll find narrow, medieval streets dotted with boutiques, pubs and fish restaurants. There is also a beautiful, blue flag West Cliff Beach which is lined with idyllic beach huts and seaside arcades. Climb the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary. You can also discover the renowned ruined Whitby Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’.
Heather Cottage is within walking distance of all that Glaisdale has to offer and within 30 minutes’ drive time of Whitby, Staithes, Robin Hood’s Bay and Grosmont.
You can visit other areas surrounding Glaisdale easily via bus. Hop on the Arriva 95 bus route which has stops in Lealholm and Whitby.
Glaisdale Train Station is a short 15-minute walk from Heather Cottage. There is a regular route to Whitby from Middlesbrough with stops in Grosmont and Ruswarp.

Guests have full access to the property. The keys to the property are accessed via a secure key safe and full details will be provided shortly before your arrival date.

- 25% deposit upon booking and the remaining balance is due 60 days prior to arrival.
- If you make your booking within 60 days of arrival, full payment will be take upon booking.
- If you cancel more than 60 days prior to arrival, any funds taken will be refunded in full.
- Should you cancel between 60 days and 30 days of your arrival date, you will be liable for 50% of the full booking value.
- Cancellations inside 30 days are non-refundable.
- No security deposit taken however when your booking is confirmed, you will be asked to verify using the accommodation providers verification partner called ‘Superhog’. This is a free service and covers owners for any accidental damage. You will receive a link to Superhog within your booking confirmation email and the lead guest simply verifies using ID.
- A £25 management fee and a cleaning fee is in addition to the accommodation rate. This will be sent to you with your holiday quote.

- Guests should pick up after their dog and not leave any mess in any of the property or surrounding public areas. Muddy / sandy paws should be wiped before entering the building

- If the property has a bathtub, dogs are not allowed in the bath tub as their claws can cause damage
