If you’re planning a Christmas shopping weekend this year then there’s nowhere more dog friendly than Liverpool. Not only can you take your dog on the Merseyrail Loop line around the city but over 50 per cent of the cities world class shopping centre, Liverpool One is dog friendly. You can take your pooch with you into everywhere from Adidas and Allsaints, Disney and Deichman to The White Company and WH Smiths! Click here for the full list of dog friendly shops. Then when you’re ready for a break there are not only dog friendly bars and restaurants in the shopping centre, but you can find them all over the city. Check out Brew Dog where you can host a little Christmas party for your dog and their pals, or there’s Dale Street’s Dead Crafty Beer Company and The Baltic Market with lots of cool places to grab a bite. Don't forget to visit the Christmas Market too as dogs are also welcome!
A Visit to Santa Paws
Has your pooch been a good boy or girl this year? Santa Paw’s Grotto at Dobbies in Liverpool is just £6.99 and your dog will not only get a photo with Santa but a special treat to take away too. Dobbies is putting on Santa Paws events all over the country, so if you can’t make it to Liverpool then have a look on their website for a different location.

Brighton Christmas Festival
The Brighton Christmas Festival looks incredible. It is made up of five Christmas themed zones including a Christmas Market, entertainment area, Santa’s Grotto, an Après Ski zone and a traditional fairground - phew! And guess what? It’s dog friendly!
Walk with your dog through the beautiful grounds of Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens as they come to life with spellbinding illuminations, large scale projections, music and theatrical performances. There’s also seasonal food and drink before or after the trail as well as funfair rides and a Christmas Market.
To make sure you can enjoy all that Brighton has to offer this Christmas, why not book some accommodation. Enjoy a luxury stay at The Grand Brighton or experience a stay at the oldest hotel in Brighton, The Old Ship. Both of these hotels have seafront locations are of course, dog friendly! Bar Hütte has launched a brand-new Doggy Grotto, complete with ‘pawsecco’, and free dog treats. There’s also photo props and Santa hats to make this experience even more Instagrammable. Every Saturday and Sunday 10am – 12pm, simply pop over for free treats and capture your furry friend in style! You’d have to be barking to miss it. This Doggy Grotto will also be popping up in Edinburgh, so if you fancy going there then keep reading!
Manchester’s Christmas Market is back again this year and dogs are welcome. The markets will open from the 12th November until the 22nd December 2021 and great news, your dog can join you providing he or she is kept on a lead! The markets are incredibly popular so do give this some thought to this and consider visiting with your dog at off peak times to avoid the crowds.
Again, you can make a weekend of it with some dog friendly accommodation. Check out the newly opened Yotel Manchester Deansgate . This hotel is trendy, hip and perfect for cocktails and selfies with your dog - a weekend totally worthy of the gram. Prices start from £70 per night.
Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland is here again and not to be missed. Six Legged Brunch
Yes, you read that right, its a brunch for dogs! Dine with your dog every Saturday at M Victoria Street with a spectacular three-course brunch menu. For two legs, you can expect mouth-watering dishes including Shakshuka, Steak and Eggs and a Pancake Stack, and four-legged friends can look forward to Chicken Jerky Three Ways, Biltong Risotto and Peanut Butter Cookies (all dog friendly) – Bone Appetit! Doggy Afternoon Tea
Alternatively, you could get tails wagging with Afternoon Tea for your dog at the Egerton House Hotel. Specially designed for your doggy and served in the Dining Room, this special Afternoon Tea includes treats such as Chicken liver meatloaf, Peanut butter biscuits and Carrot cupcakes.
You can choose from a number of dog friendly hotels in London including a self-catering stay at the Residence Inn by Marriott Kensington, or there’s the luxury 5* Kimpton in Bloomsbury or somewhere more hip such as the newly opened Hyatt London City East in Shoreditch.
Dog Christmas Market
While the Edinburgh Christmas markets are also dog friendly, there is something else going on in Edinburgh this year and that is a Christmas Market just for dogs. This is a one-off event on Saturday 4th December at Unleashed Dog Parks where you will find a Santa's Grotto as well as plenty of shopping for doggy presents as well as human ones.
Christmas Breakfast with Santa
On Sunday 5th December, the dog friendly Mercat Grill is holding ‘Santa Paws’, a Christmas themed breakfast event for dog owners and their doggies. The event is in aid of the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home and Guide Dogs Scotland and will include tasty bacon or egg rolls served up with teas and coffees from 10am-11:30am and a present for the pooches, compliments of Santa Paws!
Jingle Lead The Way Group Walk
Get yourself down to Holyrood Park in Edinburgh on 12th December for a FREE Lead the way socially distanced Christmas group walk. In the spirit of festive cheer, the organiser will be accepting treats and/or toys that will be donated to The Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home. Everyone who joins the walks will receive a free goody bag from Burns Pet Nutrition filled with plenty of treats.
